Example

MyComp.tsx
import {filmBurn} from '@remotion/effects/film-burn'; import {Video} from '@remotion/media'; import {interpolate, useCurrentFrame} from 'remotion'; export const MyComp: React.FC = () => { const frame = useCurrentFrame(); const progress = interpolate(frame, [0, 60], [0, 1], { extrapolateLeft: 'clamp', extrapolateRight: 'clamp', }); return ( <Video src="https://remotion.media/video.mp4" effects={[ filmBurn({ progress, center: [0.5, 0.5], seed: 0, }), ]} /> ); };

API

Pass an object with the following properties. You can also call filmBurn() without arguments.

progress?

How far the burn has progressed, from 0 (unchanged) to 1 (fully transparent). Defaults to 0.

Animate from 1 to 0 to reveal the source.

center?

Center of the burn as [x, y], with both values between 0 and 1. [0, 0] is the top-left corner and [1, 1] is the bottom-right corner. Defaults to [0.5, 0.5].

seed?

Random seed for the burn pattern. Must be an integer from 0 to 4294967295. Defaults to 0.

Keep the seed fixed while animating progress to grow the same burn pattern.

disabled?

When true, the effect is skipped. Defaults to false.
